Observation 207355: Laccaria laccata (Scop.) Cooke

When: 2015-06-20

Collection location: Rockwoods Reservation, Missouri, USA [Click for map]

Who: weed lady (Sylvia )

No specimen available

Perhaps this is a fungus that has deteriorated greatly due to a lot of recent rain. Otherwise, I cannot imagine what it is. Obtained a small amount of spores and they appear to be white. Found in soil in oak/hickory woods.

It certainly got my attention. Another one of those unknowns that probably will remain that way. Makes it interesting.
