Notes: A single basidiome growing on a grassy bank of a road in the middle of the woods. The only trees on both sides of the road appeared to be oaks.
The orange-brown staining before changing over to violet-gray places this species in stirps Aurantiacum of sect. Leccinum (sensu Smith & Thiers).
The light orange cap and orangish scabers point to L. pseudoinsigne.
The material is in the hands of Dave W.
