to elevate the P. strigosozonata proposal to consensus. But this looks like a good possibility. From what I have found on this species, it appears to be even microscopically elusive. From MycoGuide, “A key microscopic feature is the dendrohyphidia (dendrophyses, branched terminal cells) among the basidia (though these are obscure structures).”
I’ve looked in the same location for this, but haven’t seen it again. C du Q says poplar is a likely substrate for P. strigosozonata. Poplar is present in the 1/2 acre area where I made this observation.
