Observation 208020: Amanita spreta (Peck) Sacc.

No herbarium specimen

Notes: Found this on a trail near hardwood trees. I first thought Amanita vaginata but there is a ring. There wasn’t much of a base besides a ring. I wasn’t able to get much of it intact.

I tried. The pic second from the bottom is the best I could do. Definitely no bulb.

It would be good to excavate the bottom of the stipe in Amanita.
