R. mutabilis looks good. There were lots of these, and all of them showed the yellow stipe. Interestingly, Mushroom Observer says this species may occur exclusively with oak. The particular hillside where I see these is a lawn with planted oak and spruce. The trees are fairly well separated, but not quite isolated from one another. The one seen in this obs was plucked from a patch that seemed to obviously associated with spruce. Other patches were seen under solitary oak or solitary spruce trees. Perhaps some host jumping with this Russula?
