No herbarium specimen

Notes: Two green Russula specimens were found among Oaks and Sweet Gum, about 20 feet apart.

CAP:

The fully opened one had a cap about 5 cm across and which showed the quilted patchwork pattern on the top known for this species.

The second was smaller ( 3-3/4 cm diameter) and not fully opened. Still it shows the beginnings of patches on the cap surface.

Gills white, attached, brittle
Stipe: short, white, brittle

Smell: none detected

Taste: none detected

KOH: no reaction

10% Ammonia: no reaction
