I see now, the chlorophana appears to be a European name. I wonder why CduQ uses this name?

From Index Fungorum
Current Name:
Hygrocybe flavescens (Kauffman) Singer, Lloydia 22: 154 (1951)

Godfrinia flavescens (Kauffman) Herink, Sb. severočesk. Mus., Hist. Nat. 1: 66 (1958)
Hygrophorus flavescens (Kauffman) A.H. Sm. & Hesler, Lloydia 5: 60 (1942)
Hygrophorus puniceus var. flavescens Kauffman, Report Mich. Acad. Sci. 8: 34 (1906)

That being said I find the all yellow and yellow orange species in close proximity.

Both Index Fungorum and CduQ list the current species name as chlorophana.

It’s my understanding that these changes in nomenclature are sometimes entered into record prematurely. So when I notice new names on IF and CduQ I tend to propose at the “promising” level.

Hygrocybe flavescens (Kauffman) Singer is still considered a good species. What are your thoughts on this?
