Observation 209045: Battarrea phalloides (Dicks.) Pers.
When: 2015-07-05

Notes: Found in between large, mature Quercus pacifica in a valley overlooking Avalon (pictures of leaves and view from observation location below). At first glance it looked like a bolete, but my hand was covered in rusty orange-brown spores when I touched the pileus. I’ve never seen anything like it. Very large specimen.

That is an amazing fungus. Can you estimate the size of the spore ball and length of the stalk?
