Collected from a landscape tree, probably carob, in a residential area adjacent to live oak and riparian habitats.
Leafy ascending grey green (almost blueish) thallus, overlapping lobes, maculate, black cilia sparse arising from and near the lobe margins, up to 1.5mm, no pseudocyphellae, underside of thallus blackish in center with black simple rhizines, white distally without rhizines, mottled with some light green coloration. Thallus K+Y, C-, medulla K+Y (never turned orange, just stayed dark yellow), C-. Soredia present on lobe margins, isidia and apothecia absent.
Species ID is chemistry dependent, between P. hypoleucinum and P. hypotropum, medulla with stictic acid major in the former and norstictic acid in the latter. Let me know if putting this in the P. hypoleucinum group is the correct place.
