Observation 20914: Nephroma parile (Ach.) Ach.
When: 2009-05-02
Herbarium specimen reported

Notes: Found in very moist microhabitat in deep shady gorge along Fields Creek, on mossy rocks and logs. This looks very much like a sorediate Peltigera. I regularly confuse it with P. collina. However, Nephroma parile has a smooth underside, and P. collina has conspicuous veins. N. parile is more likely to grow on rocks, is more crumpled, and has more soredia on the interior (as opposed to mostly along the margins).
