Notes: Growing in Zone 24 and zones in the low 30s (red and white pine dominated, with birch/maple/fir understory).
Two were within a meter of a Suillus spraguei, including the photographed specimen.
The stipe and gills are somewhat yellowish and the caps of this species a very saturated red, unless exposed to sun. Sun-exposed specimens had faded to pink or even showed yellowish tones.
