Observation 209372: Polyporus cryptopus Ellis & Barthol.
When: 2015-07-08
No herbarium specimen

Notes: We’ve been having a lot of wet weather here in Oklahoma, and I noticed this growing out of the lawn by the back door to my barn yesterday morning as I was doing the chores. I took photos, and was startled to see pores instead of gills when I turned it over. It’s like a mini Polyporus arcularis, but growing in soil/grass instead of on wood. I even pulled it out to see if there was wood under there. Nope.

I pulled it up to see the substrate, this photo shows it. Grass, apparently, and dirt.
