Very nice picture! Sometimes this mushroom is very abundant here in the driftless (unglaciated) area of Wisconsin. It seems to like well-rotted logs in low lying areas.

Ahh yeah, I love these. Definitely one of the coolest looking mushrooms. I have seen a few finds posted in The Shroomery Hunting Forum.

They are less striking as they dry out, as the pileus begins to stretch and the ridges become less steep.
