Observation 209781: Amanita amerirubescens group
When: 2015-07-10
No herbarium specimen

Notes: Someone dug up this singular beauty and left it on the lawn under Oaks at a private residence, so it was a little beaten up when I found it. It might fit the bill for A. rubescens except the skirt-like ring doesn’t seem superior enough. Cap: chestnut brown with slight umbo, shaded lighter toward margin, 18 cm.; Cream colored stem with skirt-like ring, 12.7 cm tall, 1.7 cm. at apex and 3.2 cm. at widest point of ovoid basal bulb. Gills, stem and flesh all bruise reddish. White spore print. No detectable odor.
