There are 2 records from Northwestern Ohio from before 1965. I’m not confident in my ability to identify lichens but I ported over a bunch of my observations to iNaturalist and the user tcurtis identified this as Rusavskia/Xanthoria elegans on my “observation”: http://naturewatch.org.nz/observations/6999402 and recommended that I get in touch with Ray Showman, the state lichenologist to confirm and see if he would be interested. He agreed and want to get a specimen since it would be the first for the county and the first for the state since at least 1965. I will likely be in northeastern Ohio in the next couple of months so I should be able to collect a specimen.

Maybe Andrew would have an alternate suggestion. He’s probably most familiar with Xanthoria s. lato and Caloplaca from the Great Lakes region.
