Clearly, it has a volva that is weakly structure and is gray or turns gray. The volva is also friable. It looks as though it might have come from a wet or damp area. was their Alder nearby? The appearance suggest a species that might be related to A. rhacopus or (possibly) to something like A. friabilis.
I would be very interested in examining this material because of the difficulty in placing based on the photo.
