Observation 210694: Hypomyces lactifluorum (Schwein.) Tul. & C. Tul.
When: 2015-07-19
No herbarium specimen

Notes: I have never before seen white lobster mushrooms, but here they are. The orange lobsters were on one side of the patch, the white ones were in the middle, and a large patch of white hot milky mushrooms were on the other side. The best name for the host is L. glaucescens (a European name), but according to wikipedia, the North American peppery milkies are phylogenetically distinct and not yet named.

White lobsters on hot milkies, pretty cool!

It was good to meet you over the weekend. I’m glad you enjoyed the foray. I wasn’t sure we would find lobsters up on that hillside, but I’m really glad we did. I look forward to seeing your photos!

Cheers,

Dan

Thanks Dan!

This white lobster’s red neighbors were very tasty!
Thanks again for all the great information Dan!
I’m going to buy lights and will start posting pics soon! Including from travels to KY and MD.
