Observation 210733: Amanita magniradix Tulloss nom. prov.

No herbarium specimen

Collected at the NJMA foray.
UV remnants on cap present as flat grayish patches (see pic).
The gills of this mushroom were almost completely consumed by slugs/insects.
Unfortunately the odor was not noted.

Thank you for suggesting A. magniradix and commenting on your familiarity with Meadowoods. It was a very productive foray for a change — it hasn’t been that good since 2006!
I wasn’t the collector of this material. Unfortunately, I didn’t examine the tip of the bulb to ascertain the completeness of its excavation. In retrospect, I wish I had preserved the material.

I have several times collected Amanita magniradix at Meadowoods.

Was the tip of the bulb missing?

My guess is that this is magniradix.
