Observation 21091: Scutellinia (Cooke) Lambotte
When: 2009-05-16
No herbarium specimen

Notes: These two tiny, tiny specks of orange colour I managed to find on the same log as the Puff-Balls () They have black eyelash like protruding around the whole of the body. I removed one to show the underside. I had great difficulty in scratching away the attached soil to show the underbody. I have seen images similar that were called " Scutellinia scutellata". (Sounds like someone stuttering.)I tried to measure them but estimate they were less than 2mm in the widest part.

There are a few species that are very similar in macroscopic form and can only be distinguished by observing the microscopic features!
