Recognized by sight: Shallow pored bolete growing in river bottom amongst ash trees. Children found about 50 in about a .125 mile area. No camera

children took information about mushrooms

during hike, concerning how large a mushroom could be and began finding the fruiting bodies of this species to find out how large this patch was. Initially they found about 25 of them and said that the mushroom was a blob about 25 feet in diameter but then everytime we found another one along the trail they kept saying, “that means it could be 5 feet longer, 10 feet longer, 50 feet longer, etc)” We found them over the course of a quarter of a mile.
