Many scattered fruiting bodies of this one growing among hemlock and some white pines. Amanita sect Vaginatae…very flimsy volva, exannulate, very dark brown cap but with some shades of yellow, copper, bronze. Similar colorations on scant velar material on cap. Very showy stipes with reddish brown colorations.

We have accessioned this material to Rod’s herbarium and scheduled it to be sampled for DNA sequencing.
I particularly like the set of stem bottoms that show both the volval remnants and the stipe’s decorations.
I’d be very interested in some of this dried material, if possible. Thank you inadvance.
