so the slime layer was gone on the mature mushroom in the bottom photo. Thank you though, for the observation and helpful ID tips!

Two different species of Cortinarius here

The bottom photograph looks like Cortinarius argentatus if its growing with oaks or other hardwoods. It looks like Cortinarius alboviolaceus if it is growing with conifers. The cap and stem of Cortinarius iodes is slimy, so I’d say you have another purple Cortinarius, unless the slime just dried up.
