Observation 211804: Tricholoma saponaceum (Fr.) P. Kumm.

No herbarium specimen

Notes: Found in soil at elevation about 10,000 feet. An area of mixed conifers and aspen close to a stream. Dark, shady and damp. Loose black soil. Found along the Winsor Trail. Observation #10524 found on the same trail a number of years ago.
Wish I had smelled this species. I will if I find it again next year. Hope for a repeat visit.

Now I have something to pursue. Visited a totally new area of North America for mushrooming, and I have perhaps 30 unidentified species. None look a bit familiar. Thanks again!
