Notes: Found some light ones and some dark ones in the same area

Based on microscopic features: I looked at the spores but had a hard tim seeing oil drops it looked as though there was one large one in the centre but I could not tell
Based on chemical features: Stalk tuning pinkish with KOH

I looked at the spores again and I could clearly see that they looked just like Gyromitra esculenta

They can get pretty black with age, depending on the conditions to which they’re exposed.

If same-age ones in the same cluster differ in appearance, though, it’s likelier some other explanation applies.
