No herbarium specimen

Notes: These yellow Amanita are new to me. Growing in mixed hardwoods, mostly oak in SW Florida. I thought possibly A. gemata but I really don’t know.

you’ll need to collect it next time.
did it have a PV?

not every amanita sp. in NA has a latin name, even if you do the work necessary!

probably section amanita, if it doesn’t have a membranous PV. checking spores for amyloidity would also confirm the section.

could also be a validae (warts on cap, bulb, membranous PV), but I am also leaning towards section amanita.

several cryptic sp. within the gemmata complex, but this one looks like it has a farinose UV on its base, so prob. not in the gemmata group.
