Notes: Found at 5000ft. on a well degraded/fallen conifer. Spruce, fir and hemlock in canopy.
Temp: low 70’s.
NOTE: The old “styrofoam” shelves from last season pervading the forest floor. This is an easy way to monitor upcoming summer fruitings for sulphur shelves(any time of year the bone white pieces will be evident). Simply make a note in your journal when out searching for lichens and winter fungi, or in the spring when hunting down Morchella. When you return in early August to the same location, usually a large orange fruiting of fire shelves will be presented before you like a delicious gift from Hades himself.
