Notes: Found on weathered root of upturned pine stump.

APOTHECIUM black, no algae; epihymenium emerald green, K-, POL-; hypothecium deep red, POL+ red, K+ red-orange; paraphyses somewhat branched and anastomosing; asci enormous balloons
SPORES apparently huge and thick-walled, 1 per ascus, hyaline, smooth, never saw one outside the ascus
