Observation 212913: Podaxis Desv.
When: 2015-08-15
Collection location: Earth [Click for map]
(35.1327° -106.687° )
No herbarium specimen

Notes: Six were found within 2-3 feet of each other on a small rise (~6 ft) within the Rio Grande Valley State Park, across from the Rio Grande Nature Center, just off the River Loop Trail. The rise was nearly barren with a few forbs. Below the rise was Russian olive, Tamarisk, and a few cottonwoods, some of which were dead. This was an upland site within the riparian area maybe 50 feet from the river. I broke open a small slit in one that had fallen and the spores inside were rust colored.
