Ganoderma oregonense is likely. If it was abies.

some conifer, my guess would be Abies concolor

Sadly, I didn’t notice the tree type. The host wood is visible in the photos (side view is the best) for someone adept at identifying tree type from bark. This is a remote location which I won’t be revisiting this year. Also it looked so perfect, I didn’t want to disturb it. What species do you think it is?

Was this growing on a hardwoods or a conifer? If it was a hardwood would it be possible to get a sample?
