A stalked bolete with a dark red cap and a yellow underside. The pores are very small and the stalk is rather stout. Found under an oak tree.

The mostly yellow stipe, strongly bluing tubes, the absence of the “seamless” hymenophore transition into the stipe, and the white context all seem to point away from B. bicolor.

of the context seen in the photo of the sectioned mushroom accurate? Context of bicolor should be yellow.

The line of blue staining on the context just above the tubes is interesting.
