Notes: This and my following observations refer to species in the genus Rhizocarpon with yellowish thallus, belonging to the so-called Rhizocarpon geographicum group sensu lato. According to the reference, this group comprises four smaller groups:
R. geographicum group;
R. viridiatrum group;
R. alpicola group;
R. superficiale group.
In general the distiction between these groups are made based on microscopic features. However, the combination of a greenish thallus with strongly convex and big apothecia can only occur in the R. viridiatrum group, to which I believe my specimen belongs.
Growing on siliceous rock.
