Observation 21414: Bjerkandera adusta (Willd.) P. Karst.

When: 2009-05-29

Collection location: Forest near Elgin St., Pembroke, Ontario, Canada [Click for map]

Who: Paul Derbyshire (Twizzler)

No specimen available

Notes:
Unidentified polypore growing at base of dying Quaking Aspen in Zone 11. Small, formed a vertical stack of brackets, pores greyish and quite small.

Nearby on a chunk of wood (possibly not aspen) was some Stereum complicatum ( http://www.mushroomobserver.org/21415 ). I thought it might be the same fungus at first until I got looks at their undersides: grey pores on this one, orange and nearly smooth on that one.
