Growing out of south shoulder (bladed) of dirt road (Swift Trail) after several days of rain (6"+); mixed spruce-fir-pine association with some hardwoods. Note very robust size, thick context. Mild odor, no yellowing at stipe base (nor pileus edge) or other distinct staining after slicing/rubbing, although a small bit of “scales” at the side of the bulbous stipe base (1 specimen) was yellowed (bright, but very small area) when picked. Taste fresh was mild; edible and very good cooked. All of the images were from a single “string” ~1m long. Saved partial specimens to be dried and placed in the Univ. of AZ collection.

two specimens with opened partial veils, the smaller had darker spores (i.e. more mature).
