Observation 215156: Chroogomphus (Singer) O.K. Mill.

Notes:
Cap slightly sticky. Basal mycelium pink and became darker pink as it dried. Flesh orange. Under white pine, black maple and black cherry. Sassafras(?) and bald cypress further away. Growing near Suillus americanus. Cap and stem drying red.

Recognized by sight: BLAST results, closest match is DQ367894.1 on Genbank, which is labelled “Chroogomphus rutilus” but doesn’t seem to be C. rutilus sensu stricto. C. filiformis is also close.
