Notes: Growing on rotted hardwood.
Spores orange, copius.
Cap smooth orange; taste bitter.
KOH on cap very dark red to black.
Of the the six species described on mushroomexpert.com by M. Kuo (out of 200 spp), this is closest to Gymnopilus liquiritiae.
