Observation 215492: Physalacria inflata (Schwein. ex Fr.) Peck

Found on decaying wood on the ground in mixed woods—white pines, firs, larch, sugar maples, beech, birch, aspen. It looked like dozens of balloons 5-9 mms high. Sacs are expanded at first, then collapse and flatten. They age to a tan color.
