Notes: Found growing in open grassy field under pine at a local recreational park. Gills are discoloring as appears in the photo.

Yes. I think the gills may be decaying.

A very interesting specimen. The universal veil at the stem base seems “pantherinoid.” There are fragments of a partial veil. The margin seems not to be striate. Perhaps, this would find a home in Amanita sect. Amanita.
