Observation 216383: Leccinum Gray
When: 2015-09-16

Notes: Area with birch, hemlock, some oak, maple, and other hardwoods.

No staining on cut context.

I considered “Leccinum scabrum”, but the cap surface is rough/granular. Maybe L. subgrannulosum?

Cap surface seems unusual for holopus.

Granular texture doesn’t match others that I have IDed as holopus. But the lack of staining does match the one holopus variety. Presence of oak also brings albellum to mind.

Have you considered L. halopus var. americanum or var. halopus
