Russula dissimulans Shaffer. Russulaceae, Agaricales. (Подгруздок черный =Russula adusta, “сыроежка черная”; Груздь серый чернеющий, подгруздок серый).

Cap: 8-20cm slightly convex up to flattened and sunken in the centre, old one sometimes becoming funnel-shaped; margins curved in, young smooth, color from brownish-white or almost white up to grayish-brown, margins are lighter. Old or dried damage became dark brownish-gray or black. Odor is pleasant. Flesh is white, reddish-brown up to brownish-gray when bruising.
Gills are attached, close to crowded; color from white and dull cream up to pinkish and brownish-gray after bruising.
Stalk: 2-5cm long, white or brownish-white up to dull brownish-gray; 1.5-3.5cm thick, loose or hollow with edging. Young unit has weak white milk at gills.
Habitat: scattered to abundant in mixed forest under birches and fir-trees.
Edibility: good (special methods of cooking with fermentation). Most of mushrooms get damage with tiny worms. Local people don’t like it because black coloring is not for successful market.
