Recognized by sight: Easily recognised by its purple colours this pouch fungus may or may not have a stipe. The stipe is week and when present the fungus is often found fallen over.

As Michael has pointed this is now known as Cortinarius porphyroideus unfortunitly I now can not remove the older name!! due to voting!
