The fungi could be attached to any or all: soil, litter, buiried wood? I didn’t see any wood. One of the photos is the hymenium and where the fungi was attached to the ground.

has attributes of Bjerkandera adusta and Kretzschmaria deusta but lacks several key criteria to belong to either. can you confirm what it is growing from? i see that it is encircling this plant, but what is it attached to? soil? litter? (buried) wood?
