Observation 21736: Melanelia stygia (L.) Essl.
When: 2009-05-31
Herbarium specimen reported

Notes: On upper surface of large basalt boulder by trail. The pseudocyphellae and narrow, dark, shiny, overlapping lobes are diagnostic. Apparently this species rarely produces apothecia or asexual fruiting bodies of any sort?
