Observation 217769: Amanita pachycolea D.E. Stuntz

No herbarium specimen

Notes: Free gills and white spores point toward Amanita. Cap smooth and chocolate brown with distinctly striate margins. Lacking annulus. Saccate volva that attached high on stipe. This one was about 7" tall, growing in a coastal Sitka spruce dominated forest.
