Observation 21780: Deconica (W.G. Sm.) P. Karst.

When: 2009-06-06

Collection location: Strouds Run State Park, Athens, Ohio, USA [Click for map]

Who: Dan Molter (shroomydan)

No specimen available

Probably the same species as my other recent observations of small psilocybes. Found in leaf littler under upland mixed hardwoods. These were growing directly from leaves, not wood. I ordered a microscope a few days ago. These little guys will be my first microscopy subjects.

I want better of both as well, but you gotta work with what ya got in the meantime.
plus that picture may be a bit blurry but its easy to make out the shapes, unlike some of my photographs which are blurry + small range of focus.
definitely looks psilocybe genus.

spores look like psilocybe

Spore photo was taken at highest magnification (100x/1.25-160/0.17) oil immersion. Not great, but not bad for my first attempt. I already want a better microscope and microscope camera.
