Phellinus sensu stricto does not occur on conifer.

I believe it was a White Pine – and pine needles in the picture are refreshing my memory

I am not sure it could grow on pine – everyone mentions Tsuga or Abies or_Picea_.

However, it doesn’t look like Phellinus pini at all – it looks like Phellinus tremulae. What gives?
