Observation 217877: Pyronema domesticum (Sowerby) Sacc.
When: 2015-10-03

Notes: [PNW Key Council Fall Foray]

On burned wood in a firepit. Found by Anne Ginns, ID’d by Ian Gibson. A&O Ceska’s Observation 217884 is the same thing.

Spores ~18 × 10. This eliminates the similar looking Pyronema omphalodes, which has significantly smaller spores. (Thanks to Ian for keeping us honest.)

Does P. domesticum also show an orange color, similar to P. omphalodes?

Color me confused!
