According to Moore, E. J., & Korf, R. P. (1963). The genus Pyronema. Bulletin of the Torrey Botanical Club, 90: 33-42, Pyronema domesticum has apothecia with hairs, whereas Pyronema omphalodes lacks the hairs.

Hairs 80-135 × 11-19 µm
Spores, some egg-shaped, (18-)19-20(-22) x (10-)11-12(-13) µm
