Both of these mushrooms were mostly gone when I looked today – they were probably eaten. Right now I have very little understanding of what to look for (besides the obvious) when identifying a fungi. I’m planning to read Mushrooms of Northeastern North America, Mushrooms of North America, and Mushrooms of Northeast North America: Midwest to New England. After I’m done with those three I should have a better idea of what I need to identify a specimen.
