Formerly Tricholoma Zellerii- this species looks identical to a matsutake from a distance. Flocking on stem is identical to Matsutake, as well, with more orange/rust tones evident in T. focale.

Odor: like old carpet and cat pee.

Taste: mealy, bitter.

Found in moss beneath Doug fir(multiple T.magnivelare and white chanterelles nearby).

Elevation: 1700ft.

Temp: low 50’s.
