I decided it was atkinsoniana.

This is the Amanita that we tried getting the cap to open up at Black Mountain NAMA foray.

What did you decide it was finally?

I think the volva may be turning gray.

Why not wrap the bulb in damp paper towels and set the wrapped button vertical in a cup or glass. I think the rings of warts around the stem will go gray and then brown.
